Today was the tech rehearsal where the prop people and lighting and sound technicians are given a chance to set things up for the performance. The lighting was a problem though because it had been set up for another group who was using the stage tonight, so we could not change their set up to accommodate our play. We worked with what we could and changed some of the movements of the characters to better use the lights as they were.
Our performances were not the best. The main leads especially missed many lines and were throwing each other off. Even though the two stars went over lines when we were getting things ready and while we took a short break.
Our director has more confidence than we do that everyone will do better when we have an audience. She has been directing plays for at least 13 years, so she knows more about it than most of us who have only been in a couple, or are doing one for the first time. We hope she is right.
Win was very disappointed by the low advance ticket sales. She expected a much better response, so we hope that there will be many people getting tickets each day when they come. We know that some people prefer to wait to see what the weather will be and how they will be feeling, especially our senior friends and relatives. My Aunt for example is unsure if she will be able to come, but is planning to make the effort.
Tonight we had what will be our last neighborhood walk because the days are shorter and the weather is turning colder now. We had a good turn out. There is another woman who lives in my building who joined the church and she and her daughter joined us.
Another family in the building is also coming to the church now and I pray that soon the whole building will be filled with Labor of Love members. I’m sure that would please the landlord also, as we would be more responsible tenants than some of those they have had here. I’m going to have to get to know them all better. Right now we have been just on a saying hello when we see each other basis.
