I did a short journal entry this morning and headed downtown to go to the writing groups. I shared with them my news about my publication. I did not have any new poem so I found one I had written many years ago about fathers. It was written to be a counterpart to the song Mother.
I did not stay in the Loop today. I just made a deposit to my checking and got on the express bus to come home. The bus broke down just after it turned off of Lake Shore Drive and we had to get the next one. It was still early so the bus had enough seats. That is the second time the bus I was on stopped at that location and I had to get the next bus. I don’t know what is going on with them, but it seems they can’t run air conditioning and operate the buses well at the same time.
On one bus I rode to go downtown a couple of days ago, the air conditioning was dripping onto the seats in one location. Often they are too cold, like many other places with air conditioning. I always have to have a sweater or light jacket with me no matter what the temperature is outside and the hotter it is outside, the colder they usually have it inside, which is not necessary. People get ill as they go from one extreme temperature to another with no transition.
