I did my journal this morning and, as I had decided yesterday, went across the street to see what goes on with the breakfast and lunch program our church has for children in the neighborhood. The food comes from Catholic Charities. There were fewer children than I expected to see at breakfast. By lunch more came, but I still thought there would be a larger group. I read a story from one of the books I got as a reviewer with Children’s Literature. I also played Candyland and part of a Monopoly game with some of the kids. It was nice to know they still play the games I used to play as a child. I did not have Candyland, but I had and have kept Monopoly, even though I don’t have anyone to play it with now.
The program with the kids ended at 2:00 PM. Then I came home, ate lunch and looked at my email. I had some exciting news. The online magazine which was supposed to publish a rhyming, fairy tale story I sent them in a May issue, finally got back online and my story THE HUNTER AND THE DEER is the first one in the book. The web address is http://www.bumples.com if you would like to check it out. It is not up as a sample issue that can be viewed for free yet, but hopefully they will fix that soon too. The subscription price is low, however, and if you have children or grandchildren they would probably enjoy the magazine. After the story, there are some facts about deer and a puzzle. Each story in the magazine has some activity to go with it and informational facts.
This evening I went back across the street for the street evangelism walk we do on Mondays. Our pastor had hurt his shoulder and was in a lot of pain when I got there. Of course we prayed for him and an elder anointed him with oil. I believe God answers prayers and he is feeling much better now,
