The title I gave this blog is appropriate for me on many levels, which I just realized. It is, as I stated early in my entries, never too late to pursue dreams you never thought were going to come true, no matter what age you are. I also found out that it is never too late in the day for me to do my writing. Most of the time I do not begin until I am ready for bed and that often will carry over into early morning hours. The third meaning that it has for me is that it’s never too late to complete a story.
I had mentioned that the story I am currently working is progressing very rapidly, to my surprise. I did another scene last night. But it really should not have been such a surprise to me. I had already drafted the short story I couldn’t locate, which I believe I also mentioned, and last night I found the materials which first gave me the idea. They were from 2003, so this is a story that has been mulling around in my mind waiting to be written since then.
One other short story I wrote, for one of the courses I was taking before the one I am in now, goes back even further. It was something I remembered from the childhood stories I said I used to tell my friends. I wish I could remember more of them, but for some reason, unknown to me then, that idea stayed with me.
So, it is never too late too finish, or begin to write, those stories which have been germinating in your mind for days, weeks, months, or years. Germinating is the right word for it too. We know that there are plants which grow quickly, while others take a long time. I have one small cutting from a plant that was staying the same size for years. This spring it has begun to grow, just like me.
